What to do after a motorcycle accident in Singapore
An accident shakes you up. These steps are in priority order — people first, paperwork second, bike last.
1. Injuries first
Check yourself and everyone involved for injuries before anything else. If anyone is hurt — including the other party — call 995 for an ambulance or 999 for the police. Don't decline medical attention at the scene; some injuries show up later.
2. Make the scene safe
If you're able, switch your hazards on and move yourself out of live traffic — a shoulder, footpath or nearby safe spot. Don't stay standing on the road beside the wreckage. If the bike is leaking fuel or you're unsure it's safe, keep well clear and wait for help.
3. Photograph everything — before vehicles move
If it is safe, take photos before anything is moved: the position of all vehicles, damage close-ups, number plates, the road layout, skid marks and debris. These are useful for your police report and insurance claim. Never put yourself at risk in live traffic to get a shot — safety beats photos every time.
4. Exchange particulars
Exchange details with the other party: names, contact numbers, vehicle registration numbers, and insurance details. Keep it factual and calm — the time to argue fault is never at the roadside.
5. Report promptly
Report the accident to the police and to your insurer as your policy and the law require. Different policies and situations have different requirements and timelines — check with your insurer directly on what they need from you and by when, and follow the police's guidance on whether a report is required for your case.
6. Recover the motorcycle
Accident-damaged bikes often can't roll or aren't safe to ride — bent forks, leaking fluids or locked wheels mean the recovery is a towing job, not a ride home. When you call, say it's an accident recovery and describe the damage: we bring the right equipment and strap the bike by the frame, not just the handlebars. We can deliver straight to your preferred workshop and liaise with them about receiving the bike.
7. The insurance claim stays yours
Insurance claims remain between you and your insurer. Our role is the recovery: collecting your motorcycle carefully, transporting it to your chosen workshop, and supporting the process where we can. We don't process claims or guarantee claim outcomes — that's between you and your insurer.
Frequently asked questions
Can you recover a motorcycle that can't roll after an accident?
Yes. Tell us it's an accident recovery and whether the bike can roll — accident-damaged motorcycles are loaded with the right equipment and strapped by the frame, not just the handlebars.
Should I move the bike before taking photos?
Photograph the scene first if it is safe to do so — vehicle positions, damage, plates and road marks are useful for your report and claim. Never put yourself at risk in live traffic to get a photo; move to safety first.
Can the tow truck deliver my bike straight to my workshop?
Yes — give us the workshop address when you book. We can also liaise with your preferred workshop about receiving the bike.
Do you handle the insurance claim for me?
No. Insurance claims remain between you and your insurer. We recover your motorcycle and can liaise with your preferred workshop, but we don't process claims or guarantee claim outcomes.
